District Energy Corporation
Tapping the surrounding fields in West Lincoln with over 500 wells capturing geothermal energy, District Energy Corporation developed the SW 40th Street Thermal Energy Facility to provide heating and cooling utilities to the new Lancaster County Adult Detention Facility and other potential consumers. The main level of the 25,000 SF facility houses multiple modular convertor units, electrical systems equipment, system maintenance areas, ancillary equipment, a control room; and massive back-up generators to ensure system reliability. Headers for the geothermal piping share the basement with pumps and distribution piping, and mezzanine areas collect and filter intake air for the generator system. Nielsen, Mayne Architecture provided design services in collaboration with Farris Engineering of Omaha, Nebraska.
