Thermal Energy Facility – California Street Plant
The revitalization of downtown Omaha created the opportunity for Energy Systems Company, an independent provider of heating and cooling utilities, to expand its system to the North Downtown Area. The Thermal Plant will produce chilled water and high pressure steam serving Energy Systems customers including the CenturyLink Convention Center and Arena. This adaptive re-use of an existing building houses chillers, boilers, standby generators, and ancillary equipment. The facility has been planned to accommodate additional expansion in the future. Nielsen, Mayne Architecture provided design services in collaboration with Farris Engineering of Omaha, Nebraska.
